Honoring our Fallen Heroes this Weekend

This is a holiday weekend and Monday is Memorial Day. Many people see this as the unofficial beginning of summer. Schools are wrapping up, pools open on Saturday, and vacations are being happily anticipated. These are all wonderful things and should be celebrated. The actual holiday, Memorial Day, is a time to honor service members who have given their lives in the Armed Services of this country. It is a day to pay tribute to their ultimate sacrifice and show appreciation for all those who have died, so that we can live in freedom.

As an Air Force Veteran, I value the meaning of Memorial Day and strive to be a support to others. Being a Certified Military Relocation Specialist, I work with many service members and their families. It is a joy to serve those who serve our country, by handling buying, selling, rentals, and investments.

Non-profit organizations like Team Red, White, and Blue and Team Rubicon are among those that I support, for their excellent work with veterans. This weekend would be the perfect time to get involved with one of the many service groups dedicated to helping our veterans - through housing, fundraising, special events, job/career services, mental/physical health, and a wide variety of other services.

Here are some details about the Military Relocation Professional Certification to give a better understanding of why it is so valuable.

NAR's Military Relocation Professional certification focuses on educating real estate professionals about working with current and former military service members to find housing solutions that best suit their needs and take full advantage of military benefits and support.
REALTORS® who earn the MRP certification know…

  • Demographics of the military market
  • How service members can use their monthly basic allowance for housing (BAH) payment for privatized or private-sector housing
  • The processes and procedures involved in a permanent change of station—called PCS—for service members and their families
  • How real estate transactions for relocating military service members are unique—e.g., compressed time frame or the need for power of attorney if the service member is deployed during the real estate transaction
  • How to help service members through a rent or buy/sell decision-making process
  • How eligible service members and veterans can leverage VA financing and entitlement benefits when purchasing a home
  • Service members and veterans who hire REALTORS® with NAR’s MRP certification will have increased confidence that the REALTOR® will understand their specific real estate requirements and processes as well as understand available finance benefits and support.

Please join me in honoring all those national heroes who so bravely gave their life in service to our country. If you are in need of assistance with buying or selling, please reach out and let’s talk about your next home!
